Abstract

The purpose of the study was investigation to relationship between job overload and emotional exhaustion with the mediating role of emotional intelligence. The statistical population were the employees of the Northwest Khorasan Regional Water Company was 100 people, 80 of whom were randomly selected as the sample based on the Kerjesi-Morgan table. Data were collected by the Petrides and Farnham emotional intelligence questionnaire (2000), job overload questionnaire of University of Michigan (1969) and the Maslach and Jackson (1981) emotional exhaustion questionnaire. The findings were analyzed by SPSS 21 and PLS software. The findings showed there is no significant relationship between job overload and emotional exhaustion with the mediating role of emotional intelligence among employees of Northwest Regional Water Company in North Khorasan (P> 0.05). The sub-findings showed there was no significant relationship between job overload and emotional exhaustion. There was no relationship between emotional intelligence and emotional exhaustion and there was no significant relationship between emotional intelligence and role-related emotional intelligence. There was no significant difference between emotional intelligence based on gender. Also, there was no significant difference between gender role and gender, but there was a significant difference between emotional exhaustion based on gender of employees.
